Train2Scroll
Train2Scroll is an iOS app that helps you build healthier screen time habits by locking selected apps behind quick exercises. Earn screen time by completing push-ups, planks, and other workouts tracked automatically through your phone's camera.
How does Train2Scroll lock my apps? Train2Scroll uses Apple's Screen Time APIs (FamilyControls and ManagedSettings) to place a shield over apps you choose. When you complete an exercise, you earn unlock time, and the shields are temporarily removed.
What exercises are supported? Currently, Train2Scroll supports push-ups (rep-based) and plank (time-based). More exercises will be added in future updates.
How does exercise tracking work? Train2Scroll uses your device's camera and Apple's Vision framework to detect your body position and automatically count reps or track hold time. No data leaves your device — all processing happens locally.
Why does the app need camera access? The camera is used solely to track your exercises in real time. Video is processed on-device and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted.
Why does the app need Screen Time / Family Controls permission? This permission allows Train2Scroll to display a shield over selected apps and remove it when you've earned unlock time. Train2Scroll uses the individual (personal) authorization model — it does not use parental controls or monitor other users.
Can I choose which apps to lock? Yes. You select which apps and app categories to lock from within the app. You can change your selection at any time.
How is my unlock time calculated? In the current version, 1 push-up earns 0.5 minutes and 1 second of plank earns 0.1 minutes of screen time.
Is my data private? Yes. All exercise tracking happens on-device. Your workout history is stored locally on your phone. Train2Scroll does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data.
Does Train2Scroll work offline? Yes. The app works entirely offline. No internet connection is required.
The app shield isn't appearing on my selected apps. Make sure you've granted Screen Time (Family Controls) permission when prompted. You can check this in Settings > Screen Time. Try restarting the app if the issue persists.
Exercise tracking isn't counting my reps. Ensure your full body is visible in the camera frame and that you're in a well-lit environment. Position your phone so the camera has a clear, stable view of your movement.
