Sailing Tools: COG, SOG, Heel

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the mobile application Sailing Tools: COG, SOG, Heel (the “App”), provided by Malovv (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
The App turns a compatible iPhone or iPad into a sailing instruments display. It may show speed over ground (SOG), course over ground (COG), heel angle, session average speed, a race countdown timer, custom layouts, session history and tracks, boat profile information, and related features described in the App Store listing.
The App uses the device’s GPS and motion sensors. It is intended as a convenience tool for recreational and club racing use. It is not a substitute for navigation equipment, official race instruments, or sound seamanship.
You must be able to enter a binding agreement under applicable law. The App requires iOS / iPadOS 17 or newer. GPS is required. Wi‑Fi-only iPads without GPS are not supported.
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on devices you own or control, in accordance with these Terms and the Apple App Store terms. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, distribute, rent, or create derivative works of the App, except where applicable law prohibits that restriction.
The App does not require an account. Settings, layouts, calibration, sessions, tracks, notes, and boat profile data are stored on your device unless you choose to share them yourself (for example via the system share sheet).
To provide instruments and session tracks, the App needs access to location (GPS) and motion sensors. You control these permissions in iOS Settings. If you deny or revoke them, related features will not work correctly.
Instrument readings depend on your device, GPS conditions, mounting, calibration, and the environment. Values may be delayed, incomplete, or wrong. The App may show “--” when a reading is unavailable or unreliable.
You are solely responsible for safe operation of your vessel. Do not rely on the App as your only source of navigation, speed, course, or timing information. Keep a proper lookout. Follow applicable navigation rules, race rules, and safety practices. Mount and use your device so it does not distract from sailing or create a hazard.
The App does not provide live true wind, depth, water temperature, paddlewheel boat speed, or similar dedicated marine instrument data.
